Paris Saint-Germain Edges Marseille via Spot-Kicks to Lift French Super Cup in Kuwait.

PSG players celebrating

The Parisian club has now claimed the prestigious trophy on fourteen separate times.

Paris Saint-Germain needed a dramatic equaliser followed by a successful penalty shootout to get past Marseille in Kuwait and secure a record-extending fourth consecutive Trophee des Champions victory.

The Champions League holders seemed to be sailing towards a comfortable triumph in the match featuring the French league champions and the French Cup holders after the French winger opened the net early on.

However, the southern French side struck twice in the closing moments to seize a shock advantage. First, the English forward scored from the spot-kick, before the defender inadvertently turned the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a breathtaking twist of fortune, Goncalo Ramos snatched a crucial equaliser in the dying seconds to send the match into a deciding shootout. PSG goalkeeper Chevalier then stood as the hero, stopping crucial kicks from O'Riley and Traore.

From the spot, Ramos, Vitinha, the full-back, and the young talent all converted successfully for PSG to complete a convincing shootout victory.

The record winners Paris Saint-Germain, who faced last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Marseille after achieving a league and cup double, have now won this competition for the 12th time in the last thirteen years.
